(September 18, 2026) Domestic silicone-based new material manufacturers are continuously improving the synthesis process of arylalkyl siloxanes. The products have seen enhanced thermal stability, interfacial lubricity, and compatibility with organic resins. This helps accelerate the replacement of imported specialty siloxanes, meeting the upgrading needs of high-end manufacturing, cosmetics, coatings, and die casting removal industries.
Arylalkyl siloxanes are long-chain alkylaryl modified polysiloxanes. Their molecular chains incorporate both long-chain alkyl groups and aromatic groups. This combination brings together the oleophilic properties of alkyl siloxanes with the high-temperature and anti-oxidation characteristics of phenyl siloxanes. These materials differ from ordinary dimethyl siloxanes and phenyl siloxanes. They have a low volatility, and they do not easily accumulate carbon deposits under high-temperature conditions. They also possess excellent extreme pressure lubrication, demolding, and hydrophobic properties. Additionally, they have good compatibility with organic polymers. When used as demulsifiers, there is no need for complex film removal processes during subsequent painting, printing, or electroplating operations, thereby not affecting the surface finish.
In industrial applications, arylalkyl siloxanes can be used as base oils for high-temperature lubricants. They are suitable for lubricating metal pairs such as stainless steel and titanium alloys. They are widely used as internal lubricants in aluminum-magnesium alloy die casting and rubber-plastic processing. In coatings and inks, they serve as slip aids and hydrophobic agents, improving the feel and anti-fouling properties of the coating. In the personal care industry, high-purity arylalkyl siloxanes can be added to hair care, skin care, and cosmetic formulations, enhancing spreadability and glossiness, and providing a smooth and breathable feeling on the skin. They are therefore popular functional ingredients in high-end cosmetic formulations. Additionally, these products can also serve as defoaming agents in textile, fermentation, and resin synthesis processes.
Industry data shows that the global arylalkyl siloxane market continues to grow steadily, with strong demand from downstream industries such as new energy equipment, precision machinery, and high-end cosmetics. In the past, high-end products were mainly produced by foreign silicone manufacturers. However, in recent years, domestic companies have improved product stability and batch consistency through catalyst systems and molecular distillation technologies. The performance indicators of domestic products are increasingly comparable to international standards, and the ability to control the supply chain independently has increased.
Industry experts believe that with the implementation of policies related to advanced silicone functional materials, downstream manufacturing industries are placing greater emphasis on high-temperature resistance, low residue, and environmentally friendly additives. As a result, the market for arylalkyl siloxanes will continue to expand. In the future, the focus of industry development will be on developing green catalytic processes, producing low-VOC, high-purity products, customizing molecular structures for various applications, and expanding their use in special lubrication and electronic accessories. This will help domestic specialty silicone additives gradually replace imported ones.
