(September 17, 2026) The domestic organosilicon new materials sector continues to grow. Vinyl silicone oil, which serves as a key raw material for additionally cured silicone rubber, is experiencing structural growth opportunities. As multiple high-purity vinyl silicone oil production lines come online, domestic products are becoming more widely used in high-end applications such as new energy, semiconductor packaging, and liquid silicone rubber. The industry has shifted from competition based on general materials to a focus on customized, high-purity specialty products.
Vinyl silicone oil is a polysiloxane whose molecular chain ends or side chains contain reactive vinyl groups. It can react with hydrogen-containing silicone oils through addition-cure processes. During this process, no small molecules are released. Vinyl silicone oil has the advantages of resistance to high and low temperatures, low volatility, and good electrical insulation properties. It serves as a crucial intermediate in liquid silicone rubber, electronic potting compounds, thermal conductive gels, and organosilicon optical adhesives. By adjusting viscosity and vinyl content, products can be tailored to meet different manufacturing requirements, and they are widely used in areas such as sealing of new energy battery components, IGBT module packaging, advanced semiconductor packaging, medical LSR products, and high-end mold adhesives.
Industry research indicates that competition in the traditional industrial-level vinyl silicone oil market is stable, while electronic-grade, ultra-high-purity vinyl silicone oil is becoming the main driver of growth. Thanks to the expansion of new energy vehicle production, increased demand for AI server cooling, and growth in domestic semiconductor packaging and testing capacity, orders for high-end vinyl silicone oil continue to rise. In the first half of 2026, domestic exports of high-end vinyl silicone oil increased by over 34% compared to the previous year. These products are now included in the supply chains of electronics manufacturing in Southeast Asia and Mexico, and their acceptance in overseas markets is improving.
In terms of technology, domestic companies have achieved breakthroughs in key processes such as precise molecular control, continuous synthesis, and low-impurity purification. They are able to produce special vinyl siloxanes with low metal ions and ultra-low volatility levels, meeting the strict requirements for ion content in semiconductor packaging. Green synthesis methods are being implemented; some companies use solvent-free catalytic processes to reduce energy consumption and wastewater discharge, aligning with the dual-carbon goals and the new regulations for clean production in the organosilicon industry. Leading automotive and semiconductor manufacturers have also updated their material standards, setting higher requirements for the aging properties and dielectric stability of silicone oils. This forces smaller and less efficient producers to disappear from the market, and market concentration continues to increase.
Industry experts believe that the growth pattern of the vinyl silicone oil industry has changed. In the past, demand came mainly from traditional fields such as ordinary silicone rubber and building seals. Now, growth is driven by high-value-added sectors like new energy, semiconductors, and high-end medical supplies. The price difference between high-end products and industrial-level products is significant, and profitability in the industry is shifting toward specialty specifications. However, the industry still faces challenges such as fluctuations in raw material prices, long certification periods for high-end customers, and competition from established foreign material suppliers.
Looking ahead, as domestic organosilicon companies continue to invest more in research and development, the adoption of domestic vinyl silicone oil in high-end applications will increase further. Continued expansion in niche markets such as semiconductor packaging, new energy thermal management, and optical adhesives will further drive demand for high-purity vinyl silicone oil. Customized development, stable quality, and compliance certifications will become the key competitive advantages for companies trying to gain market share.
