(September 15, 2026) There are continuous positive developments in the field of new silicone materials. Many domestic silicone chemical companies have successfully produced next-generation low-halogen, low-VOC polyether silicone oils in large quantities. These products are supplied to various downstream industries such as cosmetics, water-based coatings, textiles, and polyurethane foams. The process of replacing imported high-end polyether silicone oils with domestic products is accelerating.

Polyether silicone oil, also known as polyether-modified polydimethylsiloxane, features a hydrophilic polyether segment attached to the siloxane main chain. This combination of the smoothness and low surface tension properties of silicone materials, along with the water solubility of polyether, makes it a versatile additive widely used in fine chemical industries. Due to its unique amphiphilic structure, polyether silicone oil can serve as a leveling agent, defoamer, emulsification stabilizer, hydrophilic and anti-static treatment agent for fabrics, and wetting and spreading agent for pesticides. It is applied across multiple industrial sectors. In skincare products, it improves the smoothness of hair and enhances the feel of emulsions. In water-based coating systems, it eliminates voids and improves the leveling and gloss of the paint film. In the textile industry, it helps solve the problem of water repellency associated with traditional silicone oils, providing fabric with moisture absorption and anti-static properties. It also serves as an essential uniformizer in the production of polyurethane foams, ensuring fine and uniform foam cells.

Currently, there is a clear structural differentiation within the industry: general-purpose polyether silicone oil is available in sufficient quantities, but its utilization rate is low. On the other hand, high-value-added products such as low-halogen, bio-based, and customized modified products are in short supply. Overseas brands dominate the high-end market. With the implementation of green chemical policies in China, and the need for compliance with EU REACH and carbon footprint standards for cosmetics and coatings exports, demand for polyether silicone oils with low impurities and low carbon emissions is increasing rapidly among downstream customers.

Industry experts say that the key to domestic breakthroughs lies in reducing residual ring-siloxanes and optimizing bio-based synthesis processes. New products have a carbon footprint that is approximately 40% lower than traditional petroleum-based products. Their skin irritation and biodegradability properties meet the requirements of domestic and international green certification standards for cosmetics and textiles. This aligns with the trend of domestic brands expanding their presence in international markets and replacing solvent-based coatings with water-based ones.

In terms of market demand, the personal care industry remains one of the largest markets for polyether silicone oil. Domestic skincare brands continue to increase their use of this ingredient. Demand for water-based inks, eco-friendly textile additives, and materials for new energy technologies also drives order growth. Global market data indicates that the polyether silicone oil market will maintain stable growth. Asia-Pacific region will be the core area of growth, and the improvement of local production capabilities will continue to reshape the global supply chain structure.

It is expected that in the next three years, the competition in the polyether silicone oil market will shift from price competition to customization of formulations, green compliance, and stable supply capabilities. Domestic manufacturers will continue to invest in research on bio-based and dual-modified polyether silicone oils, thereby narrowing the gap with international giants in high-end products. This will help downstream industries such as cosmetics, coatings, and textiles reduce supply chain risks and enhance the competitiveness of exported products.
