(August 25, 2026) Recent industry developments in the organic silicon materials sector reveal that domestic epoxy silicone oils (end-epoxy modified silicone oils) continue to make technical breakthroughs in terms of purity control, molecular structure customization, and low-volatility formulations. With increasing demand from areas such as new energy vehicles, semiconductor packaging, high-end coatings, and textile additives, the industry is entering a critical stage of transitioning from general-purpose additives to high-performance specialty chemicals.

As a type of reactive organic silicon intermediate with epoxy-active groups, epoxy silicone oil can participate in ring-opening copolymerization reactions with amines and anhydrides. It combines the thermal resistance and low surface energy characteristics of organic silicons with the bonding and cross-linking properties of epoxy resins. Therefore, it serves as a key ingredient in the synthesis of textile softeners, electronic encapsulation adhesives, industrial coating modifications, and the toughening of composite materials.

In terms of market dynamics, the size of the domestic epoxy silicone oil market is expected to continue growing in 2026. Industry analysts estimate that the total market volume could reach 17.23 billion yuan, showing steady growth compared to previous years. The demand structure has changed significantly: traditional textile applications remain the basic consumer market, but their growth rate has gradually slowed down. Applications related to electronic encapsulation and new energy technologies are becoming the main source of growth. Demand for high-purity epoxy silicone oil has increased significantly in areas such as battery sealants for new energy vehicles, photovoltaic sealing materials, and semiconductor filling adhesives. The consumption in the electronic encapsulation sector has increased by nearly 20% year-on-year, far exceeding the industry average.

In terms of technology, the shortcomings of domestic products are being addressed. In the past, high-end electronic-grade epoxy silicone oil relied heavily on overseas supply, with strict requirements regarding stability of epoxy equivalents, volatility, and metal impurities. Currently, leading domestic companies can control the volatility of their products to within 0.3%, and fluctuations in epoxy equivalents have decreased. Some formulations feature low ring bodies and low ionic impurities, and these are now being tested in the supply chains of power batteries and power devices in China. It is said that the new generation of epoxy silicone oil, through optimized molecular structures, can significantly improve the material’s resistance to thermal shock and hydrolysis, thereby solving the problem of adhesion between sealing materials and metal substrates. This makes it suitable for long-term use in battery modules and power devices.

In terms of production, greening and customization are the main directions of development. With the implementation of green evaluation standards for organic silicon products in China, downstream customers are increasingly preferring low-VOC, solvent-free epoxy silicone oils. This forces companies to improve their synthesis and removal processes, eliminate old, high-energy-consuming and volatile production facilities, and increase industry concentration. Leading silicon material companies, on one hand, integrate the production capacity of siloxane raw materials to mitigate price fluctuations, and on the other hand, develop specialized formulations for various applications, such as textile tri-cooperative silicone oils, coating leveling modifiers, and special modified intermediates for electronic encapsulation. They shift from simply selling raw materials to joint development of formulations.

Looking at the global market, Asia-Pacific remains the largest consumer region for epoxy silicone oil. Overseas companies continue to focus on ultra-high-purity semiconductor products, while domestic manufacturers leverage their complete organic silicon industry chain to accelerate the substitution of imported products with domestically produced ones. Industry experts believe that in the next 3–5 years, new energy storage, advanced semiconductor packaging, and water-based industrial coatings will continue to drive demand for epoxy silicone oil. The ability to achieve lower impurities, narrow molecular weight distributions, and customized epoxy group grafting will become a key factor for companies to gain a competitive edge in the high-end market.
