Within the industry, there are two main categories: high-hydrogen silicone oil and low-hydrogen silicone oil: high-hydrogen silicone oil has strong crosslinking activity and is mostly used in silicone rubber systems; Low-hydrogen silicone oil reacts gently and is widely used as a daily chemical additive, paint leveling agent, and textile softening finishing fields.

From a market perspective, upstream DMC raw material prices will fluctuate in 2026, supporting the cost side of hydrogen-containing silicone oil, while domestic mainstream specifications of hydrogen-containing silicone oil prices will remain at high levels and fluctuate in the market. Currently, domestic hydrogen silicone oil production capacity is sufficient, but product structure is clearly differentiated. Competition in the market for general products is fierce; High-purity, low-impurity grades suitable for electronics and new energy have high technical barriers and have long relied heavily on imports. In recent years, domestic silicone companies have continuously tackled challenges, optimizing synthesis and post-processing processes, reducing residual hydroxyl groups, strictly controlling viscosity and hydrogen content fluctuations, accelerating the process of domestic substitution.

Industry technology development shows three clear trends: First, products are upgrading toward high purity and narrow molecular weight distributions to meet the stringent usage requirements of electronic and medical-grade silicone rubber; Second, the number of customized products is increasing, with differentiated hydrogen content and viscosity specifications developed for different downstream sectors, adapting to various working conditions such as modified synthesis, waterproofing, and silicone rubber crosslinking; Third, green production process iterations reduce by-products, lower emissions of the three wastes, and comply with domestic and international environmental regulations and export compliance requirements such as REACH.

Industry analysts say that in the medium to long term, as new energy, semiconductors, and high-end new materials industries continue to expand, the market space for hydrogen-containing silicone oil will further open up. For manufacturers, relying solely on price competition for generic products is unsustainable. They need to focus on high-end niche segments, strengthen process control, stabilize batch quality, and improve compliant supporting facilities to seize the dual opportunities of domestic substitution and foreign trade exports. On the downstream procurement side, it is necessary to distinguish between the performance differences of high and low hydrogen silicone oils and select products reasonably based on actual application scenarios such as silicone rubber curing, fabric waterproofing, and modified synthesis, to avoid production losses caused by improper raw material selection such as product curing or waterproof failure.
