(October 22, 2026) The domestic organic silicon new material industry is experiencing structural growth. Vinylsilicone, as a key raw material for addition polymerization liquid silicone rubber, heat-conducting gels, and electronic sealing adhesives, is seeing increased demand driven by the needs of new energy vehicles and semiconductor packaging industries. The process of replacing imported products with domestically produced high-end electronic materials is also accelerating.

Vinylsilicone is a polyorganosiloxane with vinyl functional groups in its molecular chain. It appears as a colorless and transparent liquid. It possesses characteristics such as resistance to high and low temperatures, electrical insulation, low volatility, and strong chemical stability. Therefore, it serves as an essential functional intermediate in the field of advanced organic silicon processing. Thanks to its ability to cross-link and harden, vinylsilicone is widely used in heat-conducting gels for IGBT modules in new energy vehicles, seals for power battery packs, and anti-yellowing coatings for photovoltaic components. It is also extensively applied in semiconductor chip packaging, high-end medical materials, and consumer electronics LSR liquid silicone products.

According to industry research data, the total annual production of vinylsilicone in China is expected to exceed 150,000 tons in 2026, representing a year-on-year increase of approximately 18.7%. There is a clear differentiation in the market: ordinary, general-purpose vinylsilicone has sufficient production capacity, leading to fierce competition and shrinking profit margins. On the other hand, high-purity, low-ionic, and low-volatile specialty vinylsilicone is in short supply. The demand for these products in the new energy and semiconductor sectors is growing at a rate of over 15%, making them the core drivers of industry growth.

For a long time, the core market for high-purity electronic-grade vinylsilicone was dominated by foreign brands. In recent years, Chinese organic silicon companies have increased their R&D efforts, achieving technological breakthroughs in precise molecular weight control, removal of trace impurities, and continuous synthesis processes. Several intelligent production lines capable of producing ten-thousand-ton quantities of high-purity vinylsilicone have been put into operation. Domestic high-performance vinylsilicone has now entered the stage of mass testing and supply by leading power battery manufacturers and semiconductor packaging enterprises. Compared with imported products of the same specification, domestic materials offer significant advantages in terms of cost and delivery time. Moreover, these products are being exported in large quantities to overseas electronic manufacturing industries in Southeast Asia and Mexico.

Industry experts say that the vinylsilicone industry has moved beyond simply expanding production to a stage of high performance, customization, and green development. In the next phase, R&D efforts will focus on three main areas: first, developing ultra-low metal ion products that can be used in high-reliability applications such as AI server immersion cooling and power semiconductors; second, creating low-smell, biocompatible medical-grade vinylsilicone that meets international food contact and medical material standards; third, providing customized products with adjusted viscosity and vinyl content to meet the requirements of overseas customers, thereby enhancing competitiveness in the international market.

With stricter environmental regulations in China, small and medium-sized producers with outdated technologies and lack of stable purification capabilities are being phased out. The concentration of the industry is increasing. Looking ahead, as the global new energy and semiconductor industries continue to expand, vinylsilicone, as a crucial silicon-based material, will play an important role. Chinese companies, while achieving import substitution, may also gain access to larger markets in overseas B2B foreign trade markets.
