(September 16, 2026) The market for organic silicon core raw materials, particularly hydrogen-containing silicone oils, continues to grow. Thanks to the demand from new energy technologies, AI computing infrastructure, photovoltaic systems, and high-end electronics industries, domestic production capacity for hydrogen-containing silicone oils is being upgraded, and research and development of new products are progressing rapidly. The process of replacing imported high-end models with domestically produced ones is also accelerating.

Hydrogen-containing silicone oil, scientifically known as polymethyl hydrogen siloxane, is a key intermediate in the organic silicon industry due to its reactive Si-H bonds. It can serve as a crosslinking agent for addition-cured liquid silicone rubber and potting adhesives, as well as in traditional applications such as fabric waterproofing treatments, powder surface modification, and moisture-proofing of stone building materials. Under platinum catalyst conditions, hydrogen-containing silicone oil can undergo a silicon-hydrogen addition reaction with vinylsiloxanes, forming three-dimensional elastic networks. This makes it an essential raw material for LED encapsulation, sensor potting, and liquid silicone products.

In the traditional market, textile waterproofing agents have long been the main application area for hydrogen-containing silicone oils. However, in recent years, growth has occurred in emerging fields: demand for immersion coolants in AI data centers, packaging materials for new energy batteries, and organic silicone seals for photovoltaic modules has increased significantly. This has led to an increase in orders for low-ring-body, low-impurity, and high-performance hydrogen-containing silicone oils suitable for electronic applications. Industry experts say that in the past, high-performance hydrogen-containing silicone oil products relied heavily on imports. With domestic companies making continuous efforts, patents related to low-viscosity and special hydrogen-containing silicone oils have been granted. As a result, product consistency and impurity control levels have improved, allowing domestic products to meet the strict regulatory requirements of overseas customers.

In terms of technology, many domestic new material companies are focusing on converting by-products into valuable materials. By using organic silicon by-product materials, they can produce high-quality hydrogen-containing silicone oils, which not only reduces raw material costs but also improves resource utilization efficiency. This aligns with the green and low-carbon development goals of the chemical industry. Compared to traditional processes, these new technologies allow for precise control of hydrogen content, viscosity, and ring-body content, reducing volatile impurities. This makes them suitable for applications requiring high purity, such as electronics and energy storage. Additionally, industry standards are being improved to standardize the technical requirements for hydrogen-containing silicone oils, helping domestic products compete in international markets.

From a market perspective, there is sufficient supply of ordinary industrial-grade hydrogen-containing silicone oils, leading to strong competition. However, there is a shortage of electronic-grade and low-ring-body specialty hydrogen-containing silicone oils, which is a key focus for companies’ research and development efforts. As overseas chemical buyers demand more diversified supply chains, domestic manufacturers are participating in international fine chemical exhibitions and offering customized products compliant with REACH regulations to European and Southeast Asian markets. As a result, foreign trade orders are increasing steadily.

Industry analysts believe that in the long term, new energy computing, photovoltaics, and energy storage will continue to drive demand for specialty hydrogen-containing silicone oils. Future competition will shift from mere production capacity to refined customization, stable quality control, and green production capabilities. Companies need to continuously improve purification processes and develop modified hydrogen-containing silicone oils with lower volatility and higher stability, thereby taking advantage of the opportunities for domestic production of new materials and the restructuring of global supply chains.
