Epoxy silicone oil, as a core product in reactive modified silicones, leverages its material properties to gain a larger share in various applications such as electronic packaging, industrial protective coatings, composite materials, and high-end textile additives. This has further accelerated the process of domestic substitution.
The molecules of epoxy silicone oil possess both a flexible siloxane backbone and active epoxy groups. This allows them to retain the characteristics of silicones, such as resistance to high and low temperatures, weather resistance, and low surface tension. At the same time, they have the ability to undergo chemical reactions with curing agents like amines, thereby solving the problems associated with poor compatibility between ordinary silicone oils and organic resins, as well as insufficient adhesion. These compounds can improve toughness, impact resistance, and bonding strength, making them essential intermediates for high-performance formulations.
According to industry research data, the domestic epoxy silicone oil market has experienced steady growth in recent years. Applications in electronic packaging and new energy-related coatings are the main drivers of demand. With the expansion of chip packaging, automotive electronics, and energy storage industries in China, there is a growing need for high-purity, low-volatility, and stable-epoxy-value epoxy silicone oil in high-end electronic encapsulants. Industry analysts believe that in the next few years, the growth of epoxy silicone oil will shift from traditional textile coatings to higher-value sectors such as new energy, semiconductors, and advanced composite materials. Research will focus on low-volatility electronic-grade products, water-based formulations, and specialized epoxy phenylsilicon oils.
