Domestic production of high-end vinyl silicone oil accelerates, opening new growth space in the new energy and electronics sectors

(September 4, 2026) Signals of technological iteration continue to emerge in the domestic downstream deep processing field of organic silicon. Vinyl silicone oil, as the core basic raw material for addition-type liquid silicone rubber, is steadily rising in market demand as downstream industries such as new energy vehicles, semiconductor packaging, and high-end medical consumables expand, and the pace of domestic substitution for high-end products is accelerating. 

Vinyl silicone oil, relying on the active groups of ethylene in its molecular chain, can undergo additive reactions with hydrogen-containing silicone oil. It is widely used in liquid silicone rubber LSR, electronic component potting, LED optical packaging, and new energy power battery seals. It is a key intermediate material bridging the organic silicon new materials industry chain. In the past, domestic general-grade vinyl silicone oil has achieved large-scale mass production, but electronic-grade and medical-grade products with low cyclic and low volatile matter and extremely low metal ion content have long been dependent on imports, with the high-end market occupied by overseas material companies. 

Since the beginning of this year, many domestic silicone companies have continuously advanced process upgrades, gradually implementing linear bulk condensation and polymerization processes. This route can suppress the formation of cyclic impurities at the source, achieve controllable molecular weight, improve batch stability, and help produce higher purity vinyl silicone oil products. Some companies have built new high-purity dedicated production lines that completed 72-hour full-load trial runs, focusing on semiconductor packaging, automotive-grade IGBT modules, and high-end liquid silicone rubber, filling the gap in large-scale mass production of side-chain modified highly active vinyl silicone oil. 

From the market perspective, the overall domestic vinyl silicone oil market size will maintain steady growth in 2026, with demand growth rates for electronics, new energy, and medical-specific grades significantly outpacing ordinary industrial grades. Competition in the traditional general-purpose product market is intensifying, profit margins are being squeezed, and the industry as a whole is shifting toward higher purity and customized functions. Downstream feedback shows that several domestic high-end vinyl silicone oils have entered the formulation validation stage for leading battery and packaging and testing companies. Compared to imported products with the same performance, they have clear advantages in procurement costs and delivery cycles, and products are sold in bulk to overseas manufacturing markets such as Southeast Asia and Mexico, with export orders continuing to increase. 

Industry analysts say that with the concentrated release of domestic high-purity production lines, the self-sufficiency rate of high-end vinyl silicone oil is expected to continue rising by the end of 2026, effectively reducing external risks in the new energy and semiconductor industry supply chains. However, it should also be noted that there is still room for improvement in high-end grades in ionic impurity control, batch consistency, and compliance certifications (REACH, LFGB, etc.). Future competition will shift from simple capacity expansion to comprehensive capabilities such as formulation customization, full-process testing, and application solution support. In the medium to long term, emerging sectors such as photovoltaic packaging, automotive-grade silicone rubber, and AI server cooling materials will continue to bring incremental market space for vinyl silicone oil.
