Acrylic silicone oil (acrylic ester-modified silicone oil) benefits from its ability to participate in UV curing processes as well as its advantages associated with both organosilicon and acrylic resins. Therefore, it is in high demand in various downstream applications such as radiation-cured coatings, electronic coatings, and specialty inks. It has become a popular additive in the field of new silicon-based materials.

According to industry technical data, the molecular chain of acrylic silicone oil contains reactive double bonds. Unlike ordinary physical blending silicone oils, it can directly participate in free radical polymerization reactions within UV-curing systems. The siloxane segments are bonded to the paint film structure through chemical bonds, preventing issues such as silicone oil migration, precipitation, or floating. As a result, properties like low surface tension, smoothness, resistance to scratches, and stain resistance are maintained over time.

In practical applications, a small amount of this product can significantly improve performance. When used in UV plastic paints and phone casing coatings, it enhances the level of surface smoothness and resistance to fingerprints and friction. In outdoor industrial coatings and wood paint systems, it improves weather resistance, resistance to yellowing, and resistance to washing. It is also widely used in photosensitive 3D printing resins, specialty printing inks, and optical protective film formulations. This helps reduce internal stress in materials and improves the flexibility and demolding characteristics of finished products.

In the past, some high-quality acrylic silicone oils in China relied heavily on imports from abroad. However, in recent years, domestic companies have continuously improved the molecular structure of these products by controlling molecular weight and double bond grafting rates. As a result, various domestic grades have been developed, with significant improvements in compatibility and storage stability. These products can be used with different resin systems, reducing the procurement costs for downstream enterprises and accelerating the process of domestic substitution.

Industry analysts believe that with the rapid development of consumer electronics, new energy-related materials, and high-end coatings industries, the penetration rate of UV curing technologies continues to increase. As a functional modifying additive, the market for acrylic silicone oil is expected to expand further. Future research will focus on developing new products with high reactivity, low odor, and compatibility with water-based systems, thereby expanding its applications in environmentally friendly coatings and new personal care materials.
