(August 6, 2026) Recently, the domestic organosilicon new materials industry has been undergoing continuous technological iteration. High-end vinyl silicone oil has made substantial progress in purity control and continuous synthesis processes. Electronic-grade and low-volatility series products are gradually achieving import substitution. Orders in downstream fields such as new energy vehicles, semiconductor packaging, and high-end liquid silicone rubber (LSR) continue to be released, further boosting industry prosperity.
Vinyl silicone oil is the core basic raw material for addition-molded liquid silicone rubber, electronic potting adhesives, and thermal conductive gels. Relying on active ethylene groups on the molecular chain, it achieves by-product-free, low-shrinkage crosslinked curing under the action of a platinum catalyst. The vinyl content, volatiles, and ionic impurity levels of the product directly determine the temperature resistance, insulation, and mechanical properties of downstream products. In the past, domestic production capacity for mid- and low-end products was sufficient, but ultra-high purity vinyl silicone oil for semiconductors, medical consumables, and new energy power modules has long relied on overseas imports.
Since 2026, many domestic silicone companies have increased investment in R&D of specialty silicone oils, achieving precise molecular weight distribution control through process upgrades and the implementation of continuous intelligent production lines, producing high-end grades with low cyclic, low-volatile, and low-metal ions. Some products can control their volatile content below 0.2%, with key indicators benchmarked against similar overseas products, meeting stringent usage standards for semiconductor packaging, new energy IGBT modules, and medical silicone rubber. The two major technical routes for end vinyl and side-chain modified vinyl silicone oil are advancing simultaneously. Side-chain products, with their higher cross-linking density, are rapidly being promoted in automotive electronic potting and high-resilience sealing applications.
From the downstream demand side, the new energy vehicle industry has become the core engine driving the growth of vinyl silicone oil. Battery pack sealing, thermal management thermal gel, and high-voltage insulating silicone rubber all consume large amounts of vinyl silicone oil raw materials; The expansion of AI computing hardware and semiconductor packaging industries has driven a rapid rise in demand for electronic-grade vinyl silicone oil; At the same time, high-end medical devices, consumer electronics, and wind power protective coatings are also bringing incremental markets, with industry estimates showing annual growth rates of over 15% in demand for related high-end grades.
Industry insiders say that the domestic vinyl silicone oil sector is currently showing polarization: competition in the ordinary grade market is fierce, while there is still a supply gap for high-purity, customized specialty products. Future industry competition will focus on three main directions: impurity control, development of customized viscosity and vinyl content, and green, low-carbon synthesis processes. With the continued release of domestic high-end production capacity, the procurement costs of raw materials for downstream domestic manufacturing will be further reduced, promoting the process of independent control across the entire silicone industry chain.
Industry institutions predict that with the advancement of new quality productive forces and the continued expansion of downstream new energy and semiconductor industries, the domestic high-end vinyl silicone oil market will steadily grow over the next 3-5 years, with broad room for domestic substitution.
